Series V. DIGITAL FILES, 1980-2011
Scope and Contents
Digital files are comprised primarily of graphic files, including but not limited to image
files (.tiff and .jpg) and design files (.psd, .ai, .dwg). This series also contains video files (.vob, .mov, .m4v) and a small portion of office files (.pdf, .ppt., .doc). The EDA may not be able to provide access to every file type due to limitations emulating obsolete software and file types.
Guide to Using the Digital Index
The digital index is an inventory of all digital carriers, and lists information discerned from the physical legacy media as well as information gained during processing of the logical copies. The index lists:
Media Identifier– the unique identifier assigned to each item
Media Type – what the original carrier is, such as a CD or floppy disk
Media Metadata – any labeling on the legacy media, which may include references to a project the designer worked on.
Series - added to cross-reference what other Series content may align with
Project – this is called out when applicable, and noted on the digital index as well as the project index
Date – the date the item was created
File types – file extensions present (for example, .doc, .pdf, .jpg)
Summary – a brief description of contents
Number of Files and File Size (MB) - provides a better understanding of the amount of information on each legacy media
