San Francisco Public Library: Sunset Community Center San Francisco CA, 1947-1951
Content Description
The bulk of the Weihe, Frick & Kruse collection consists of records documenting Weihe, Frick & Kruse projects, but the collection also contains some material that predates the establishment of Weihe, Frick & Kruse, as well as project files and documents that were created after the dissolution of the firm. The collection is organized into two series. Series I contains student work. Series II consists of the majority of Weihe, Frick & Kruse's projects, the project files and drawings of Arthur Brown Jr. and Bakewell & Weihe, the project files for the completion of Grace Cathedral, the largest project in the collection.
When William Fox closed his office in 1970, he wrote letters to former clients of Weihe, Frick & Kruse to inquire whether they would like to have the original design drawings. Some of these letters and corresponding drawings are included in the collection. The collection was donated after the death of William B. Fox in 1978.
