Scope and Contents

From the Series:

Documenting information on Vignolo’s professional background, this series contains curriculum vitae, student work from his time at the University of California, Berkeley, a sample of his work, his design thesis, and his 1956 Charles Eliot Traveling Fellowship Report for the Harvard Graduate School of Design. The Fellowship report for Harvard’s Department of Landscape Architecture contains extensive notes and drawings from his time in Europe. The travel material consists of photographs of Santa Barbara’s Biltmore Hotel, a flight over Yosemite, and the Filoli estate in Woodside, California. Vignolo’s creative and humorous personality, understanding of design, and artistic prowess are also revealed through his “Spoofs”, a series of humorous sketches of actual or proposed projects of architects and clients. Referred to by Vignolo as “doodle[s]”, they make up the majority of his personal papers.
